Tyas Cottage, a recently restored cottage and barn, is located within a small hamlet on the site of the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley (7 miles from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire). It is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. This is an ancient, cobbled pack horse road and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Merrydale, designated as a 'Sight of Scientific Interest', is a beauty spot and its abundant bird life includes kingfishers, herons and sparrow hawks. Foxes are often seen and a deer was recently sighted.
