The flat is at the first floor above a typical French Café located in the historical part of the village (200 meters from a XIIth century church). The flat is functional, very quiet and sunny. From the flat you can directly hike in the surrounding chain of mountains that is made of "sleeping" volcanoes named in French "Puys" (Chain des Puys). The village is at an altitude of 850 metres and the surrounding mountains reach usually 1200 to 1600 meters up to 1800 metres for the "Puy de Sancy". The village is located at 500 metres from a natural lake resulting from a lava flow that crossed a river (6000 years ago). The lake is a nice place where you can swim and practice water sports.
Natural landscape : very nice and quiet, made of forests and pastures. The population density in that region is very low: the air is perfectly pure without traffic jams ! Volcanoes : The region is exclusively made of "sleeping" volcanoes. You will find nearby several spa villages/town (Saint-Nectaire, Le Mont Dore, La Bourboule, ...) Restaurant: good traditional restaurants, not too expensive. Many small traditional restaurants disseminated in the mountains. Local cuisine: the village is located in an area of production of cheese : "Le Saint Nectaire". You can buy it directly in farms. The region (called "Auvergne" in French) is also well known for an other cheese called "Cantal". Local production of food : you will find here cheep and good local and "non-industrial" delicatessens.
