For a home exchange, we wish to travel to Valencia, Spain, between May 31 and sometime in July, 2011 (exactly when depends on if I am required to teach school during the summer). We would also like to visit London for a week, during the same time period.

Tucson is city of 800,000 whose best features are shown on the tourist web site, http://www.visittucson.org/. Our home is 20 km from Saguaro (Cactus) National Park (http://www.nps.gov/sagu/index.htm) , 25 km from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (http://www.desertmuseum.org/ ), 65 km from Mexico, 200 km from Phoenix, 500 km from the Grand Canyon, 640 km from San Diego, California (Sea World), 800 km from Los Angeles (Disneyland). Speed limit on major highways is 115 km/hour. Tucson is a stop on the national railway, Amtrak, with overnight sleeper trains to Low Angeles, San Antonio, and New Orleans.
The summer in Tucson is hot, typically 30-40 degrees, but the nights in June are agreeable. In July there are usually thunderstorms, often exciting, and always a welcome break from the heat. Tucson sits at the foot of a 2700 meter mountain, and it is an hour's drive from the big cactus to the cool pines.

We are a couple with two children, 10 and 13. We have lived in this home for 19 years, and equipped it with solar electricty, solar hot water, and 8 chickens to make eggs! For children there is also a cozy tree-fort in the backyard.
