Our beautiful 3600 square-foot home is located in historic Indian Village, 2 blocks from the Pearl River, in the midst of the Honey Island Swamp in Slidell, LA. Tucked back into the trees, our treehouse-esque home fits right in with the surrounding wildlife and fauna.
Our home has a beautiful outdoor wooden staircase leading up to a gazebo and then a porch, with balconies surrounding the house and windows for days. The kitchen, dining room (with grand piano), open-space living room, library (with 1000s and 1000s of books), half bath, and 2 offices are upstairs. Looking across the library is a huge picture window with stained glass and looking down from the library balcony, to the first floor, is the Master Bedroom. The Master Bedroom boasts a meditation room (complete with a gong!), a bathroom with a large, double headed shower, 2 large walk-in closets, and a 180degree mirror. Down the hall sits 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed and its own balcony/porch; the biggest of the 3 rooms also includes a full-sized bathroom and sitting area. Our home is filled with tons of art, instruments, and books; there are quirky things at every corner, illustrative of our own quirky personalities! :) As if that wasn't enough, we also have an 800 square-foot Mother-In-Law's Apartment above the garage. The apartment includes all the amenities necessary for living there full-time, including a fully-furnished kitchen, living room, and 2 bedrooms with a full bath. There is also a breakfast nook. Our home sits on 3 acres of land, some of which is marshland. Our closest (and quietest!) neighbors are housed in above-ground crypts, as we live next to a cemetery that dates back to the 19th century. We are 2 blocks from great fishing on the Pearl River, 5 minutes from one of the best Swamp Tours in Southern Louisiana, right down the road from a Wildlife Management Area, 25 miles from the casinos & beaches of Bay St Louis and Biloxi and only a 30 minute drive from Downtown New Orleans! |
