Home to the University of Wyoming, Laramie is an active college town with shops, art galleries, Western antiques, museums, and saloons. Local restaurant offerings include Western steaks, international(Indian, Thai, Sushi, Mexican, Italian), pub food, and healthy/vegetarian cafe fare. In the summer, Laramie bustles with weekly farmer's markets and fairs, road and mt. bike races, concerts, and rodeos. Tour historic sites such as the frontier prison that once housed infamous outlaws or the Ivinson mansion. Visit during Laramie's summer Jubilee Days: 2 weeks of dancing, parades, carnivals, fireworks, and rodeo events. Or come during Cheyenne Frontier Days to see the US's largest rodeo extravaganza in nearby Cheyenne. Laramie's summer climate is characterized by warmth,sunshine,& blue skies. Laramie is made for outdoor enthusiasts. You can hike, backpack, rockclimb, fish, & road/ mountain bike. Or simply pack a picnic and enjoy the mountain scenery. Laramie's wilderness areas offer the same spectacular mountain vistas as the national parks, but with more quiet and solitude. The use of our home includes bicycles and camping equipment. Laramie is ideally situated near I80, an interstate highway with a 120 KPH (75 MPH) speed limit that makes travel to other destinations easy. Reach Cheyenne in under an hour and Denver, CO in 2 hours. Rocky Mountain National Park can be visited as a day trip. Our home makes a great home base for weekend trips to: Yellowstone/Grand Teton NPs, the Black Hills (Mt. Rushmore), Colorado National Monument, Dinosaur National Park, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. And that is just the beginning. |
