great south end This is a 3BR (all upstairs) with one full bath (also upstairs) and a half bath downstairs. Also downstairs: LR, DR, Kitchen, Sun Room. Attic: could be finished with the addition of a dormer on the west side. Basement: full basement, with washer and drier, that is 100% dry but too low-ceilinged to finish; slop sink runs hot and cold water.
Here’s an external lap around the house: Front: The north-facing front [picture] shows a recently completed (Fall 2005), architect-designed conversion of the original front porch into living space. About half of this new space bumps out the living room, with the other half creating an entryway and a powder room. The addition has a full foundation with crawl space and is fully heated. The floor is ceramic tile in the entry and bathroom and, in the living portion, an extension of the living room’s hardwood floor (yellow birch) which seamlessly integrates the new space. The addition also includes 4 new Marvin windows and the original front door has been stripped and refinished. West Side: The west side has a single-width driveway running the length of the house and leading to the detached garage. (Garage was once used as a welding shop and has lots of electricity). The west entry of the house is topped with a gable and leads into a landing/mudroom area outside the kitchen (or, if you hang a left upon entry, down to the basement. South Side: The backyard is predominantly blue stone patio with flower beds on three sides, and a privacy fence to the south. The bump-out on the right originally housed a hot tub. It was rebuilt in 2002 and includes 2 new Marvin double hung windows. A great office or sunroom or, in our case, kids’ project room. The portion to the left, to which the door opens, is the original back porch, and now serves as a pantry. The back is very sunny in spring, then gradually leafs up to a full canopy by July. It’s a great barbecue spot and we practically live out there 2-3 months of the year. East Side: Borders the neighbor’s land. Not a lot of land here but we get the neighbor’s massive lilac branches in our windows in the spring. New Metal Roof 2012 |
