Master bedroom is upstairs. Opens up with French doors to nice upstairs deck with trees and some mountain view.We have a nice small private upstairs guestroom with two small comfortable beds. One catch is your bathroom is downstairs.
A NOTE ABOUT PETS: We love dogs, cats, but you can’t bring your pet Our very people-friendly dog is generally unfriendly to other dogs, sometimes outrightly aggressive to them. And we keep our guest room dog and cat free so if a guest is allergic to animal fur we can still host them. In short, the deal involves you caring for two cats and a great dog and taking him for walks Of course if you have pets we return the favor. Though in our 60's we're socially and physically active couple. Nonsmokers, hikers, organic food junkies, etc. Again, note if you're allergic to cats or dogs, note that we have one dog and two cats. You can keep 'em out of your room, but they have the run of the rest of the house. After Alex living in southern California for over 30 years, we moved to Ashland Oregon in 2005. It's a medium sized town (Population 20,000 see http://www.ashlandchamber.com ) best known as the home of the Shakesphere Festival, but offers much in the way of outdoor and indoor adventure. Near the Rouge river famous for rafting, fishing etc. Has a modestly decent but not world class ski area on Mount Ashland 30 minutes drive from our house. Many of the advantages of a city with most of the advantages of the country. We're about 20 minutes from the Medford Oregon airport. The shuttle service/cab is about $20 into Ashland. Probably can arrange for you to use our cars if you do the same. You can walk into the little, interesting, pedestrian friendly downtown from our home in 14 minutes. W have two hybrid bikes supposedly off-road capable but really set up as town bikes. We prefer the hikes on the local creek, etc. Our house is very UN-childproof so hosting toddlers, or kids under the age where "don't touch" really means something to them, is very difficult. We aren't hard and fast about kids but generally prefer all our visitors over age 14. Alex does computer support (used to write the Smart Computing magazine reader Q&A column). Meera is a sculptor of "peacemakers" (see www.meeracensor.com for her work.) We both teach nonviolent communication. Great river rafting and kayaking here, which Alex is into, approx May though September. There’s a small private airport right in Ashland at which Alex shares a small two seat aircraft. Sorry, you can’t use my plane while here ;-) Mid July through mid September can be very hot weather (though it does cool down nicely at night, so even if it's going to hit 100 late in the day hiking is still pleasant to at least noon) here. Worth visiting any time of year (near cross country and downhill sking during a fairly mild winter) but spring, summer, and fall are probably optimal. Public transit is not great, but the town is VERY bicycle friendly and either we can loan you a bike or you can rent one reasonably. Ashland's also know for being generally politically left-of-center, so you're more likely to see "god bless everyone" than "god bless American" bumper stickers. I have wireless (wifi) that's probably accessible in the guest room and elsewhere in the house. Or if you don't have a computer and would like to check your email I can probably let you get on one of our computers to check. Please no smoking or unofficially sanctioned drugs in our house ;-) For decades we've been members of an organization called Hospitality Exchange. We’re also members of www.couchsurfing.org and if you join there you can check our many references. |
