Beautiful home in the country, just 30 miles from Washington DC attractions!The Home
This home has over 3000 sq feet of living space and sits on 3 acres surrounded by hundreds of acres of farms in a very quiet area. It is 5 miles from an upscale Harris Teeter grocery in the Stone Ridge shopping center. It is 15 miles from the huge Dulles Towne Center Mall and 20 Miles from the Tysons and Tysons 2 malls. It is about 30 miles from Washington DC so you would be in a great location for day trips to go downtown and see the sights. You can take a 10 mile drive out to beautiful country towns like Middleburg or the civil war battlegrounds of Manassas, or 30 miles to the Shenandoah Mountains with Lurray Caverns and much great hiking and canoeing. You can access the Appalachian trail 20 miles from here. The new Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is about 10 miles from here. The home was remodeled in the past year and has all new stainless steel appliances, granite counters and a fully stocked kitchen, a luxury master bathroom and a great in home theater in the basement. There are wood and tile floors throughout the home. We have three sons (ages 11,12, 14) and have made this place a fun adventure for kids. It includes two giant outdoor swings, a 200 foot long zip wire (which will provide hours of fun for kids ages 6 and older), a pool table which converts into ping pong as well, and a nice theater room with a big screen TV and surround sound and Nintendo Wii. The home is equipped with a small workout room with free weights and a treadmill for those who want to stay in shape on vacation. There is a big fireplace and plenty of firewood as well as an outdoor fire pit where you can have fires in the summer and roast marshmallows.

We have a six passenger SUV that we may be able to work as part of an exchange. We also have four bikes which can be used by our guests.

The Neighborhood
Aldie is a quaint village just outside the developed areas of Washington DC. We are very close to the Civil War sites in Manassas and the historic town od Middleburg and 30 miles from DC. We spend hours walking down our dirt road and exploring the nearby woods so if you just want some time to unwind, this is a great place to do that or you can be really busy and take in all the DC area has to offer. We share our yard with wildlife like the deer in the picture as well as an occassional wild turkey, possum, and other critters.

The Dates
We have the first week of April this year open for school break (April 4 to 12) and then from June 20 through the month of July. We are open for shorter exchanges within driving distance of the DC area.

The Destination
We love the mountains and the beach. The caribbean or Hawaii would be awesome. We'd like to take the kids overseas more so we are open to Europe, Africa, and South America. We'd welcome long weekend exchanges with people a day's drive from where we are (North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, East Coast beaches).

The People
George works in sales and is an avid outdoorsman. Joni stays home and has made our place a wonderful oasis for all of us. Our sons (Tyler age 14, Stephen age 12, and Corey age 11) our experienced travelers who have been on a variety of trips from an orphanage in the remote parts of Nicaragua to skiing at Whistler. They are very well behaved and we have never visited anyone and not left things better than when we came. We want to show them more of the world and enjoy the last few years we have together before they go off into adulthood. We do have an indoor cat and some outdoor cats which we'd like to be fed ideally in an exchange but we can make other arrangements if necessary.
