Lovely, sunlit studio (40sq m) in a 1930s building, overlooking Clapham Common, which is a big green space in London's Zone2. Floor-to-ceiling-windows for lovely view of sky and trees and there is double glazing on all windows if you need it. One double bed and a very comfortable sofa bed for two, although we prefer just one or two people staying in the flat, or three if the third is a child.
Here you have the best of both worlds as you are on a non-busy, one-way residential street with views, you can jog in the park, use the free exercise machines and listen to free concerts (spring/summer), but you are still extremely conveniently located for public transport to all the city's attractions. Clapham Common Tube stop is just 4minutes walk away (to whisk you to Victoria in 10mins or Oxford St in 15-20mins, as well as the wonderful Tate Britain and Tate Modern at the South Bank, while the trains at Clapham Junction (a walk through the park) will get you to lovely Richmond and Kew Gardens. Buses 137 and 345 to Knightsbridge and Kensington are an even nicer way to travel, with regular buses just a few minutes walk from the flat. An interesting bus ride across the river will get you to all of the museums in Kensington. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets are also just a few minutes walk away from the flat, with a wonderful market every Saturday, 10am-3pm, which sells organic produce and delicious fresh gourmet food for lunch. Just ask for directions to The Pavement market. The flat itself is very cosy and has all you need for a shorter or longer stay, with washing machine and fully equipped kitchen (now with electric hob). Teas, spices and oils for cooking are provided. A soak in the tub is a bit of a spa experience as the bath is large and you have a big window to look out from, complete with candles and lavender essential oil:) |
