If you don't mind walking, many are less than half an hour walk. The neighbouring area is famous for its garden-restaurants. The "Central Park" of Budapest, Margaret Island is next door. Several thermal baths (Lukacs, Kiraly etc.) and Buda Castle district are very close. In a 10-minute walk Kolosi tér market (fresh fruits and vegetables), a secure playground for kids, a 0-24 fitness centre, several groceries and a supermarket (Uj Udvar) can be reached. MARGARET ISLAND is mostly covered by landscape parks and is a popular recreational area. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious center. BUDA CASTLE is the historical castle complex of the Hungarian kings, first completed in 1265. It was built on the southern tip of Castle Hill, surrounded by what is known as the Castle District, famous for its Medieval, Baroque and 19th century living quarters and public buildings. Buda Castle is part of the Budapest World Heritage Site. If you spend time in Budapest, at least a part of it should be at the soothing THERMAL SPRING BATHS. The Romans reaped the health benefits of hot springs here, but it was during the 16th and 17th century Turkish occupation that the bath culture was developed. Some of these spas are still in operation today. The Király and the Rudas are the finest examples. |
