This is a 4+ bedroom,2 full baths semi-detached house in Old Ottawa South http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Ottawa_South a charming upper middle-class neighbourhood. The house is located one block from the Rideau Canal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rideau_Canal, just at the beginning of Dow`s Lake http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dow%27s_Lake
and three hundred yards from the main entrance to Carleton University http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carleton_UniversityIt is a short (2 mile) ride to all major downtown attractions: Parliament Buildings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_Buildings_%28Canada%29 the National Gallery of Canada http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Gallery_of_Canada and all major Museums. It is also a few blocks from Bank Street and the Glebe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Glebe It is an older, (1940`s?) comfortable house - with an extensive art collection - with a small front garden a back yard, and parking for 2 cars. In the main floor, there is a very large porch, practically an outdoor living-room (parlour) that gives access to the house: living room with wood fireplace; wide French doors open to the dining room and eat-in kitchen, where a French door opens to the back room entry - the "mud room" as it used to be called - from whence one exits to an airy deck, which is an outdoor dining room, and two steps down is the two-car park. In the upper floor there are 3+ bedrooms, but one of them I use as my office. That leaves for the guests my bedroom, with a double bed, and an attaining den, and a full bathroom. In the basement there is another full bedroom for guests with a full bathroom, and the washer and dryer in the storage area. There are excellent swimming pools nearby, a municipal one 300 yards away, and the Carleton University's one. Most sports can be enjoyed within 20-30 mins (skiing facilities within 20 minutes, Mont Tremblant is slightly over an hour) There are bicycles and a canoe for your use: remember that the Rideau Canal is one block from the house! I can direct you to facilities for most sports: from polo to dog sledding, depending on the season. |
