Atlanta is 2 1/2 hrs away, New Orleans, Florida beaches, all within a few hours away. Birmingham surrounding area has a population of 3/4 million people. Has an excellent art museum, fine dining, and nightlife. Although the city itself is a fine destination, it is also well located (centrally) to the southeast, so as to make exploration of other areas very easy.
