We have a calm, quiet, airy 2-3 bedroomed house. We sleep 4 people but can put up another bed if needed in the 3rd bedroom/study. Our central heating makes every room in the house cosy.
There is a modern, well equipped kitchen with a dining table that opens out to seat 6 people comfortably if needed. Our living room looks out onto the patio garden with table and chairs. The living room has a couple of sofas and a large armchair. We have a flat screen digital TV with Freeview, a media player, DVD and video player. There is a downstairs toilet. Upstairs the bathroom has a large, shaped bath with a power shower. The main bedroom has a TV. Both bedrooms have double beds. The study has a computer with Broadband. We have loads of books and games here for you to use. We live in a quiet street, but are only minutes away from the centre of town or public transport if you don't want to use our car. We are located bang in the middle of "Catherine Cookson" Country in South Shields in the North East of England. Our house is 5 minutes from spectacular beaches and parks and 5 minutes from the town centre. There are literally dozens of restaurants in town and many more in nearby Newcastle. If you are a theatre buff, there are 8 within a half hour drive. South Shields is blessed with gorgeous, award winning sandy beaches that stretch from the mouth of the Tyne at South Shields to Trow Rocks more than a mile away. Here you'll find an abundance of wildlife, hidden coves, twisting cliff top paths and cycleways and a pioneering lighthouse. The coast is protected by The National Trust and is a great walking trail. Within an hour and a half drive are many country houses and castles, most now owned and protected by The National Trust. Our town was occupied by the Romans 2000 years ago. You can visit their fort. Hadrian's Wall is only half an hour away. Lots of other forts are nearby in Northumbria - about 45 mins away. The Metro, 5 mins walk from our house, whisks you to our nearest big city - Newcastle upon Tyne in under half an hour. 30 mins away is the ancient city of Durham with its castle, cathedral and river. 40 mins away is The Metro Centre. It is the largest shopping mall in Europe. Medieval York is an hour and a half away. The Lake District and Edinburgh are 2 hours from us. If you are interested in horse riding, golf, bowling, museums, art galleries, fishing, surfing, skateboarding or country walking, then it's here. ATTRACTIONS: Restaurants Shopping Galleries/Museums Theaters Ocean Lakes Golf Surfing Hiking Boating We have a couple of cars and can arrange insurance for you if you have a car to swap with us. That would be great. We will be in Australia all of April and May. We are interested in swapping for any or all of that time. If we don't get a swap we will stay with our daughter. With a new baby on the way we think a swap would be good idea!! |
